Torsion Springs

We produce torsion springs in wire diameters from 0.20 mm to 15.00 mm. Unlike compression and extension springs, helical torsion springs are loaded by twisting (torsional stress). The ends of the coils are extended tangentially to form the moment arms, and these arms can take various shapes depending on where the spring is used. The coils are wound close together.

No initial tension is applied. Although most of these springs are wound closed, a gap can be left between the coils to reduce friction. They are used to apply torque or store energy. Springs with arms in many different forms are made to ease assembly and operation.
